Causes
What are some of the major Mesothelioma Causes?
Asbestos, among other Mesothelioma Causes, is the leading cause of Mesothelioma and while this doesn't seem alarming, it certainly is. Asbestos is commonly found in older buildings and installations where back in those years, the danger of asbestos was mostly unknown.
Exposure to asbestos can be short, such as living with a family member who has higher exposure rates and brings the asbestos fibers home on their clothing. But in most cases, long term exposure to asbestos can cause Mesothelioma.

Asbestos fibers when inhaled travel through your lung and end up in the pleura. When this occurs, the fibers will destroy the outer lining of your lungs and can develop into lung cancer. If these small fibers are swallowed, they can travel into your abdominal cavity where they can cause peritoneal mesothelioma.
